    Community relationships form the foundation for the work the Mat-Su Borough School District does in preparing all students for success. For that reason, community organizations, businesses, and the District all benefit from school-based partnerships, sponsorship opportunities, and charitable contributions.

    Since the start of the 2012-2013 school year, MSBSD has issued nearly $450 million of Purchase Orders to Alaskan vendors. This averages to over $60 million per fiscal year.

    Business Partnership Opportunities

     

    • School-based partnerships: Businesses partner with a specific school in order to enhance learning opportunities. For example, they may sponsor a field trip, offer internships or job shadowing, or volunteer in a classroom. 
    • Sponsorship opportunities: These agreements allow businesses to sponsor an educational program (such as a coding academy), event (such as the Tech Expo), or a team (such as basketball) in return for advertising/signage opportunities at schools.     • Charitable contributions: The State of Alaska offers an Educational Tax Credit to private businesses for any financial or in-kind contributions given to the District. See the table below for a breakdown of tax credits:
