M.Ed. TVI, COMS
A Certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) and a Nationally Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) for the Mat-Su Borough School District, Mrs. Danner teaches children of all ages who have visual impairments.
She received her Bachelor's Degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, and her Master's Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Greely, Colorado.
She stays active with activities for the visually impaired throughout the year. She has worked with Portland State University assisting with TVIs in their Introduction to Orientation and Mobility Instruction. She was President of the Alaska AER from 2005 to 2014, the Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired. She was a Co-Founder and Vision Specialist of Camp Abilities Alaska (2001-2016), a sports camp for youth with visual impairments.
In addition, she is President of AVISION, LLC, Alaska Vision Impairment Services and Instruction. AVISION, LLC consults with other agencies, where she works with infants, toddlers, and families, as well as adults throughout Alaska.
She received the honor of National Braille Teacher of the Year 2017 from the Braille Institute in Los Angeles. She received the BP Teacher of Excellence Award in 2006, was a Braille Institute's Teacher of the Year Honoree in 2016.
